Wailea Beach Resort – Marriott, Maui Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of resort properties on Maui, and honestly? The Wailea Beach Resort hits that sweet spot where luxury doesn’t feel stuffy. You pull up the palm-lined drive and yeah, it’s clearly a five-star property, but there’s something about the way the lobby opens right up to those ocean views that just makes you exhale. I mean, you’re literally looking straight out at Wailea Beach – and not some distant sliver of it, but the actual good part where the sand is soft and the water does that impossible turquoise thing.
What I really appreciate about this place is how they’ve managed to feel upscale without being pretentious about it. The staff actually remembers your name (not just because they’re reading your keycard), and when you’re wandering around in flip-flops and a slightly sandy cover-up, nobody makes you feel underdressed. The pools are gorgeous – there’s this lagoon-style setup that winds around the property, but honestly, you’ll probably spend most of your time on the beach since it’s right there. Wailea Beach itself is one of those spots that locals will grudgingly admit is worth the tourist crowds, especially if you walk down toward the Grand Wailea end where it gets a bit quieter. Pro tip: the snorkeling is actually decent right off the beach in the morning before the trade winds pick up.
The rooms are solid – I stayed oceanfront and woke up to whales breaching during winter season, which, you know what, totally worth the splurge. Air conditioning works great (important when those Kona winds aren’t blowing), and the balconies are deep enough to actually use. Parking is valet only, which is kind of annoying if you’re planning to hop around the island a lot, but the guys are quick about it. One thing to know – this stretch of Wailea can get pretty busy during peak season, so if you’re looking for that secluded Hawaiian experience, maybe aim for shoulder months. But if you want to be walking distance to some of the island’s best restaurants (Spago and Ko are both right in the neighborhood) and don’t mind a scene, the location is actually perfect. The resort sits right in the heart of Wailea’s luxury strip, so you can easily walk to shops at The Shops at Wailea or grab a drink at one of the other resort bars. It’s the kind of place where you can be as social or as low-key as you want – sprawl by the pool with a mai tai, or disappear down the beach with a book. Either way works.
Hawaii hotels range from charming beachfront bungalows in traditional Polynesian style to elegant oceanfront luxury resorts and modern accommodations with panoramic Pacific views.

The location and property simply amazing. Boardwalk and access to other hotels and shops! In the heart of Wailea! Stunning sunsets and beaches! The ocean front room views are also stunning. Food is exceptional as well. Staff at the breakfast kitchen place are also great especially Anthony and Paul! Service there is much better than at the rest of the hotel. Lady at the front desk called Judy was extremely nice to us- she’s really kind. Also Jhon at the adult pool bar was great!

the property is beautiful, children's pool area is a bit of a walk from where the parents pool area is, so I could see some kids getting lost. only real negative was all the stairs. the resort is multi level and many different levels. so that was a bit of a bummer. stairs for everything. plus was starbucks on site. abc style store on site and wailea shops and dining within walking distance
