Aston Maui Hill Overview

First Impressions

When I first pulled into Aston Maui Hill, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t scream resort like some of the flashier places down the road. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. This three-star property sits quietly on South Kihei Road in Wailea, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. The free parking right on-site is a godsend too, especially when you consider how much some hotels charge for that privilege in this area.

The Perfect Wailea Position

Here’s the thing about location — and I mean this — you’re getting Wailea access without the Wailea price tag. The hotel sits right between the more affordable Kihei area and the upscale Wailea resorts, which means you can walk to some seriously beautiful beaches without fighting the crowds at the main resort strips. Couples seem to get this immediately; they consistently rate the location around 9 out of 10, and I can see why. You’re close enough to the Grand Wailea and Fairmont Kea Lani to use their beaches, but you’re not paying their rates.

The Room Experience

The accommodations here are more like condos than traditional hotel rooms, which honestly works better for longer stays. Each room feels lived-in rather than sterile — think comfortable furniture that’s seen some use, but in a good way. The kitchenettes are actually functional (not just decorative like some places), and the lanais give you those partial ocean views that make morning coffee feel special. It’s not going to win any design awards, but everything works, and there’s something to be said for that kind of reliability.

Daily Life and Amenities

The pool area becomes the social hub pretty quickly — it’s where you’ll meet the regulars who’ve been coming here for years, and they’re usually happy to share their favorite local spots. There’s no fancy spa or elaborate restaurant on-site, but that actually pushes you to explore the area more. The nearby Shops at Wailea are walkable if you’re feeling ambitious, and the local food trucks that park along Kihei Road serve some of the best plate lunches on the island — locals will back me up on this.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to Aston Maui Hill isn’t flashy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies. It’s the fact that you can settle in and actually live like a local for a while. The staff knows returning guests by name, the location gives you easy access to both tourist attractions and hidden gems, and the rates let you extend your stay without breaking the bank. Sure, you might not get turndown service or a concierge, but you will get a genuine slice of Maui life that feels authentic rather than manufactured. For a three-star property, it punches well above its weight class.

Reviews of Aston Maui Hill

  • Boere from Australia (9/10)

Our unit was exceptional. Everything was high quality, the kitchen was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was very clean and almost brand new. The bedrooms were beautifully set up, although the bed was a little soft for us. Latest tech TV's and good WiFi. Resort facilities were also great and so were staff.

Clean, well maintained property. We started in a two bedroom and it was spacious for our family of 5. Loved having a kitchen and washer/dryer.

  • Erika from United States (9/10)

Location was perfect to walk to several beaches, shopping, eateries! The condo itself had a beautiful view of the ocean, was clean, well stocked and provided inside and outside places for seating and dining. You are also able to BBQ if you choose to cook meals (fresh fish of course)! Would absolutely stay here again! The grounds were beautifully decorated for Christmas!

  • John from United States (9/10)

Front desk was super friendly and kind- we had a great view- the mornings were so peaceful sitting on the balcony watching the sunrise over Haleakala while listening to all the Maui birds. The pool was great and we loved being so close to the ocean. It was quiet and super clean!! Oh- and loved being able to wash our clothes in the in-unit washer/dryer.

We had the best stay at Aston Maui Hill. We were able to relax and hang out at the pool and meet people all over. It’s close to the beach and a short walk into town for dinner or shopping. We were able to plan our snorkeling trip right there and it was the greatest adventure seeing beautiful fish and swim with the turtles. We highly recommend staying here.

Staff was great, room was very clean and spacious. We stayed in the room with a garden view and it didn’t disappoint. Very quiet and peaceful. Location is great. Walking distance from beaches, restaurants and shops. Would stay here again.
