Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Bamboo Valley Inn – I mean, it’s a 3-star place and you know how those can go either way. But walking through those doors, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling with genuine bamboo accents (not the fake stuff you see everywhere) and local artwork that looks like it was chosen by someone with actual taste, not a corporate decorator.

What really got me was how the staff knew things – like, really knew them. When I mentioned I was hoping to catch sunrise somewhere quiet, the front desk guy (I think his name was Miguel) didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. He sketched out this little route to a spot about ten minutes away where locals go, complete with a warning about the gravel road and where to park so you don’t block anyone’s driveway. That’s the kind of insight you just don’t get at chain hotels. The rooms themselves are nothing fancy, but they’re thoughtfully done – good water pressure, blackout curtains that actually work, and these thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet even when the place fills up on weekends. I stayed in a second-floor room facing the courtyard, and honestly, waking up to the sound of actual bamboo rustling instead of traffic was pretty perfect.

The thing about Bamboo Valley Inn is that it feels like it exists for people who want to experience a place, not just sleep somewhere convenient. You’ll find locals having coffee in the little café area most mornings – always a good sign – and the evening vibe is relaxed without being sleepy. Sure, there’s no fancy spa or rooftop bar, but there’s something to be said for a place that does the fundamentals really well. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you spend a night there; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just delivering way above what you’d expect for the price point. If you’re the type who values character over corporate polish and appreciates when local knowledge comes standard, you’ll probably love this place as much as I did.

It felt like home, everything is so organized and we had there everything we wanted, cooking tools, towels and beach towels, chairs and boogies, outdoor shower to clean after the beach. Its a private spot surrounded by nature. Very recommended 🫶🏼

Lanai was fabulous – spent every night out there looking at the stars and listening to the rain. The the “grand room” was really nice too. Loved the “rain forest” atmosphere. Tom was always responsive to my questions and was great to have coolers and beach chairs available for us to use.

    Wow, Maui!!!!
Rainbow Village Inn a perfect retreat.
    Beautiful scenery.
Home cooking in the kitchen may be a challenge to those not experienced in adaptability. I used the large electric frying pan to cook as no hob. I like that. I cooked pancakes, sausages, eggs, steak, stir fry, and anything else that came to my mind but cakes didn’t work. Restaurants in Paia OK but a little enterprise meant we booked for one eel and stayed three!

When we arrived at the vacation rental we found a big tray with coffee, snack bars, teas, milk, different kind of oatmeal and other goodies. Really nice as we had not done any shopping for breakfast and that gave us a good start the next morning. The apartment has a great size for two people and also an extra bedroom, so we could have been more guests. We used the kitchen only for preparing breakfasts but we realized that there was also a supply of spices, oil and other kitchen helpers – really great The apartment is situated in the lush nature, you can watch birds on the terrace and enjoy the environment. We loved the supply of enough towles for bathroom and beach as well and that you have the feeling that the hosts Vicky and Tom really take great care about their guests – Mahalo!

The suite was extremely comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. It was really helpful to have beach chairs and a cooler to use for excursions. The property is secluded and quiet, just what we were looking for. The spacious lanai had lovely views of the foliage and Haleakala.

It is a very nice flat in a house with all facilities like washing machine, dish washer etc. The host provided additionally beach towels, beach chairs, cooling box and boogie boards at no costs which definitely enriched our beach experiences. Check in and out was very smooth and the host provided detailed informations on the facility and potential sights or facilities in the neighborhood. We would definitely come back.
