Belle Vue Kona Inc Overview

First Impressions

Honestly, Belle Vue Kona Inc caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know what I mean when you pull up to a place and it just feels right? This three-star property sits tucked away off Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook, and there’s something genuinely peaceful about the whole setup. The name promises beautiful views, and well — they actually deliver on that promise without being all flashy about it.

Location & Setting

The location here is honestly spectacular, and I’m not just saying that because the recent guest ratings hit 9.9 out of 10. You’re perched up in Captain Cook, which gives you this perfect vantage point over Kealakekua Bay — I mean, you can actually see where Captain Cook himself met his end down there in 1779. It’s about a 20-minute drive south of Kailua-Kona, but that distance works in your favor because you escape the tourist crowds while staying close enough to hit the main attractions. Couples seem to get this location thing figured out pretty quickly (they rated it a perfect 10), and I can see why.

The Room Experience

My room had that lived-in comfort that you don’t always find at bigger resorts. Nothing fancy or over-the-top, but everything worked exactly as it should. The views from most rooms look out toward the ocean, and if you’re lucky enough to snag one facing west, the sunsets are absolutely worth writing home about. The furnishings feel like someone’s well-cared-for guest house rather than a sterile hotel room, which honestly made the whole stay more relaxing.

Practical Perks

Let me tell you about the little things that actually matter when you’re traveling. There’s free parking right on site, which sounds basic but becomes a real blessing when you’re exploring the Big Island by car (and trust me, you’ll want to rent a car here). The continental breakfast gets the job done — nothing elaborate, but it’s included and gives you fuel for those early morning snorkel trips to nearby Kealakekua Bay. The staff runs the place like they actually care about whether you have a good time, not like they’re just checking boxes on some corporate manual.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.2 overall rating tells the real story here. This isn’t about marble lobbies or fancy spas — it’s about getting the fundamentals absolutely right in one of Hawaii’s most underrated spots. You’re close enough to the famous coffee farms to do morning tours, Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park is just down the road, and some of the island’s best snorkeling sits practically in your backyard. Belle Vue Kona Inc works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s just a really solid, well-located place to stay while you explore this incredible part of the Big Island.

Reviews of Belle Vue Kona Inc

Brilliant setting, secluded and private with wonderful garden. All the facilities you need or want. Super comfy bed

You arise to birds frolicking at feeders outside your patio door. You step onto the lanai & look forever down the mountain & out to sea. You enter your kitchenette & make coffee w/ the Keurig® cups left out (or tea) and put some bread in the toaster. Perhaps grab a banana from the garden in the basket on the kitchen table.
Check in w/ your hostess, former Clinique model from Strasbourg, Alsace, Viviane for ideas to more than fill your time. (And as an Alsacienne, she is fluent in German & French)
After a day down at the coast, or perhaps some kayaking, enjoy the lavish sunsets from your lanai, and then maybe catch a show on the large-screen TV. Full laundry facilities are a couple steps away (finish by 8 PM).
Turn on the overhead fans, open your patio doors, and let the mountain air blow through your apartment as the king bed enfolds you in sleep.

The Rose room was very large. There was a gorgeous view and the location was great.

  • Emily from United States (10/10)

There was fresh fruit, bread, jam, cereal, milk, coffee and tea provided in the fridge. There was also a microwave, stovetop and toaster. So if you wanted something more than you could have picked something at the store across the way. We liked that we could eat when we wanted then head off on our adventures Vivianne greatest us and told us some great things we could do. The property had phenomenal views and was very peaceful. The nights were loud with critters, which didn't bother us but could be negative to someone sound sensitive.

  • Pierre from Canada (9/10)

The view is to die for, as the name implies.

  • Bernice from United States (9/10)

Spectacular vista and lovely flower garden with songbirds. We did not want to leave our terrace.

  • Melinda from United States (10/10)

The hostess was very kind; when we showed up, she gave us a complimentary upgrade to the honeymoon suite, which was a separate cottage. The Belle Vue is on 4 acres of farm land, and I think it has the best view on the island. We couldn’t get over how beautiful it was! Additionally, there were lots of friendly geckos on the balcony, and beautiful birds as the bird feeders are kept well stocked. It was extremely quiet, the cottage itself was pretty, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Great little apartment with a wonderful view of the Kona Coast. We loved sitting out there and looking at the view with all the unique birds and beautiful flowers and everything. I liked that I could use the washer and drier, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The t.v. and sofa room were really nice. It was very private and a good location.

The most important thing for us is always the view and this property delivered. The wide ocean and mountain scenery are beautifully framed by the colorful and well-manicured gardens. Private patio seating is a lovely place to take in the panorama and sunsets/sunrises. We enjoyed spacious quarters, a comfy bed, lots of hot water, birdsong and the company of our gracious host Viviane who generously offered us some of the bounty of her gardens. The property is secluded and quiet with no road noise, but is conveniently just minutes down the hill from the Choicemart grocery in Captain Cook. Local dining gems are Shaka Tacos, Rebel Kitchen, Teshima's, and Gypsea Gelato and coffee.

  • Karen from United States (10/10)

The best part of this stay was the view it offered when we woke up. We came in while it was dark and had seen pictures of what to expect. To see the view live was amazing. We loved sitting outside in the morning and enjoying our coffee and the vista. There were many breakfast cereal choices available.
