Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first pulled up to this Best Western near Honolulu Airport, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s one of those places you book when you need something practical rather than Instagram-worthy, and honestly? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The building itself is pretty standard mid-rise hotel architecture, but what caught me off guard was how genuinely helpful the front desk staff were during check-in. None of that rushed “here’s your key card” energy you get at some airport hotels.

The free breakfast thing is actually legit, which surprised me. I mean, we’re talking about Hawaii where a bagel can cost you twelve bucks at the airport, so waking up to decent coffee and more than just stale pastries felt like a small victory. The breakfast area gets busy around 7 AM when all the early flights start boarding, but if you’re an early bird like me, you can pretty much have the whole spread to yourself around 6. The rooms are what you’d expect from a 3-star place – clean, functional, with that slightly tropical but not-trying-too-hard decor that works in Hawaii. Air conditioning actually keeps up with the humidity, which isn’t always a given in older Honolulu buildings. You know what I really appreciated though? The walls are thicker than most airport hotels, so you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway or planes taking off all night.

Here’s the thing about staying near HNL – you’re not exactly in tourist central, but that’s kind of the point. You’re close enough to catch your flight without the 5 AM panic, but far enough from Waikiki that you’re not paying Waikiki prices for everything. If you need to grab dinner or supplies, there’s a decent local plate lunch spot about a ten-minute walk away that actually stays open late (rare for the area), and a Safeway that doesn’t completely gouge you on basics. The hotel’s shuttle to the airport runs pretty regularly, though I’d recommend confirming times at the front desk because Hawaiian time is… well, it’s a real thing. With a 7.2 rating, this place sits right in that sweet spot of “does what it says it’ll do without any major headaches.” It’s not going to be the highlight of your Hawaii trip, but it’s also not going to be the thing you complain about when you get home.

  We stayed here twice. The first time was for a few days taking a bus into Honolulu and the second time was after visiting a couple of the other islands. Having a shuttle bus to get to and from the airport was a great help. The toiletries were very nice. Breakfast was good.

  Stayed overnight with airport transfer. Great location easy check in and easy access. Hotel bus was easy, back and forth early the next morning.
