Castle Bamboo Waikīkī Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Castle Bamboo Waikīkī Hotel on Kuhio Avenue, you immediately get that classic Waikiki vibe without the overwhelming tourist chaos. This three-star property sits right in the heart of everything — and I mean everything you actually want to be near. The building itself has that relaxed Hawaiian charm that doesn’t try too hard, which honestly feels refreshing after seeing so many over-the-top resort facades around the island.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about Waikiki — location can make or break your entire trip, and Castle Bamboo Waikīkī Hotel absolutely nails it. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the beach, but more importantly, you’re positioned where the locals actually hang out too. I’ve noticed couples especially love this spot (apparently they rate the location 9.3 out of 10), and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can grab morning coffee, hit the beach, explore the neighborhood’s hidden gems, then come back to freshen up before dinner — all without feeling like you’re constantly commuting.

The Room Experience

The rooms strike that perfect balance between comfortable and practical that you need in Hawaii. Nothing too fancy, but everything works exactly as it should. What I really appreciated was having enough space to actually unpack and settle in — you know how some hotels make you feel like you’re living out of a suitcase? Not here. The air conditioning is solid (crucial in Honolulu), and honestly, the beds are more comfortable than I expected for a three-star place. Plus, there’s something nice about having private parking available — one less thing to worry about when you’re trying to explore the island.

Food That Surprises

Okay, so I wasn’t expecting much from the hotel dining situation, but the meals here are actually highly recommended for good reason. The food goes beyond typical hotel fare — there’s real attention to local flavors and fresh ingredients. I mean, you’re in Hawaii, so you’ll probably want to eat out and explore the incredible local food scene, but it’s reassuring to know you can grab a solid meal without leaving the property when you just want to relax.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it feels authentically Hawaiian without being touristy. You’re staying somewhere that couples consistently rave about, in a neighborhood that locals frequent, with genuine island hospitality that doesn’t feel manufactured. The combination of that unbeatable location score, reliable amenities, and surprisingly good food creates this sweet spot where you feel connected to the real Waikiki experience. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the strip — it’s just being exactly what you need for a memorable Hawaiian stay.

Location was excellent. Liked the bus to Ala Moana shopping Center was across the street. Many good restaurants close by. A/C worked well. Sufficient supplies in unit. Very nice, friendly staff. Comfy loungers by the pool.

The property is a budget property. It is dated but clean. We had all we needed and honestly didn’t spent much time in the hotel because we like exploring. Great food nearby and access to all things if shopping and restaurants is what you like. Walking distance to everything.

Great price, good sized room. Bed was comfortable. Loved the fact you only pay for room cleaning if you want it. We stayed for 2 weeks so you get free room service and sheets changed after 7 days. Was perfect as we keep it tidy ourselves. We got any towels, toiletries, coffee etc from reception if you need.
