Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of fancy resorts, but Four Seasons Maui at Wailea just hits different. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, they actually get it”? That’s exactly what happened here. The lobby opens up to this incredible view of the Pacific, and I mean – you can literally see Molokini Crater from where you’re checking in. The staff doesn’t do that fake over-the-top greeting thing either; they’re genuinely warm but still professional, which honestly made the whole arrival feel more authentic.

What really sold me on this place was how they’ve managed to feel luxurious without being stuffy. The pools are gorgeous (there are three of them, and the adults-only Serenity Pool is worth fighting for a chair), but you’ll also see kids having an absolute blast at the main pool without it feeling chaotic. The beach situation is probably the best part though – Wailea Beach is right there, and it’s one of those perfect crescents of sand that looks almost fake in photos. Pro tip: grab a spot on the left side if you want slightly fewer crowds, especially in the mornings. The water’s crystal clear, and you’ll actually see sea turtles pretty regularly if you wade out a bit.

I stayed in one of the ocean-view rooms on the fourth floor, and honestly? The lanai became my office for the week. There’s something about watching the sunrise over Haleakala while drinking coffee that just resets your brain. The rooms themselves are spacious – like, actually spacious, not hotel-brochure spacious – and the bathrooms have those deep soaking tubs that you’ll definitely use more than you think. One small thing that impressed me: the air conditioning is whisper quiet, which matters more than you’d expect when you’re trying to sleep with the windows open to hear the waves. Restaurant-wise, you’re not trapped on property (though you could be and eat well). Wailea has some incredible spots within walking distance, and the concierge actually gave me solid local recommendations instead of just pushing the hotel restaurants. That said, if you do eat at Spago or DUO Steak, you won’t regret it – just make reservations because they fill up fast, especially during whale season. The whole resort just feels thoughtfully designed, from the way the paths wind through the tropical landscaping to how they’ve positioned everything to take advantage of those trade winds. It’s expensive, sure, but it’s the kind of place that makes you understand why people save up for these trips.
