The rooms are genuinely comfortable though, with decent beds and AC that actually keeps up with the Hawaiian heat (trust me, I’ve stayed places where it doesn’t). The whole vibe feels more like a local apartment building than a tourist trap, which I sort of loved. You’ll see families from the mainland mixing with island residents, and the front desk folks actually know the neighborhood – like, they can tell you which food truck on Keeaumoku Street has the best plate lunch, not just hand you a glossy brochure.

The 9.0 rating makes total sense once you adjust your expectations. This isn’t the Royal Hawaiian with its pink palace charm, but it’s also not trying to be. It’s for people who want to spend their money on activities and food rather than thread counts and marble bathrooms. I found myself using it as an actual base camp – showering off beach sand, grabbing snacks from the Foodland down the street, then heading back out to explore. The whole area comes alive in the early evening when locals get off work, and you’re positioned perfectly to experience that shift from tourist Waikiki to local Waikiki.

The “comfy” part of the name isn’t marketing fluff either. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup – like staying at a friend’s place who happens to live in one of the world’s most popular vacation spots. Would I bring my parents here for their 40th anniversary? Probably not. But for a solid, no-stress Hawaiian base camp where you can actually park your rental car and walk to decent food? Yeah, I’d book it again.

I feel like host put a lot of effort so it will feel great. Even instruction how to get into the room was super detailed. Location is fantastic, it is 3 minutes walk from Waikiki strip and 8 minutes walk from the beach. Parking is free, you have dedicated spot. Host responses are quick.
