Ilikai Marina 1781 City View Studio Overview
First Impressions
The Ilikai Marina 1781 City View Studio sits right in the heart of Waikiki, and honestly, you can’t ask for a better spot. This three-star property might not be the fanciest place on the strip, but what it lacks in bells and whistles, it makes up for in pure location magic. You’re literally steps away from everything that makes Honolulu special — the beach, the shopping, those late-night plate lunch spots that locals actually frequent. The property delivers straightforward comfort without unnecessary frills.
The Studio Setup
The room itself is what you’d expect from a studio — compact but thoughtfully laid out. There’s a small kitchenette that’s actually pretty handy if you want to grab some poke from the market and eat it while watching the city buzz below. The city view they promise? Well, it’s not the ocean, but watching Honolulu wake up in the morning with your coffee is sort of magical in its own way. The space feels clean and functional, though don’t expect any design awards here. Every element serves a practical purpose for guests seeking an efficient base.
Location Perfection
Here’s where this place really shines — that 9.5 location score isn’t just marketing fluff. You’re positioned perfectly between the beach action and the real Honolulu that tourists sometimes miss. Walk five minutes one way and you’re on Waikiki Beach; walk five minutes the other direction and you’ll find yourself in neighborhoods where people actually live and work. The Ala Moana Center is close enough for serious shopping, and the bus system here is actually decent if you want to explore beyond the tourist bubble. This strategic positioning makes it ideal for travelers wanting authentic experiences.
The Couple’s Retreat Factor
I get why couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways. There’s something intimate about having your own little studio perched above the city — it feels like you’re living in Honolulu rather than just visiting it. The marina views add a nice touch, especially in the evening when the boats are all lit up. It’s not fancy, but it’s cozy in that “let’s pretend we live here” kind of way that makes for good vacation memories. The atmosphere encourages genuine connection with the destination.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to wow you with a fancy lobby or room service, but that 8.7 rating tells the real story. People come here because it delivers exactly what it promises — a clean, well-located base for exploring Honolulu without breaking the bank. The fact that it’s in the top-rated area means you’re never more than a short walk from great food, whether that’s a $4 plate lunch or a $40 dinner with ocean views. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on location and value rather than trying to be something it’s not. This honest approach resonates strongly with returning guests.

This was a great location, close to the beach and boats, buses that could take you anywhere, and close to the mall (easy to go to Target to get cheaper food than at local ABC store!). Two minutes away, there was somewhere we found where we could book tours and activities (snorkeling, island tour, sunset cruise, luau). Better location than at central noisy busy Waikiki! Many good restaurants nearby, 1-2 minutes away. The elevators in the building worked great and were quick. The furniture was very comfortable, it was great to have a couch. I have a sensitive back, but still had no complaints about the bed. It was very clean, very quiet (no outside noise or noise from the building!), there were no cockroaches, and the view from the windows were great! We could watch Friday fireworks from the building. Very happy about the kitchen – it met all of our needs and allowed us to save some money on food too. We had some questions, and the property was able to quickly answer all of them. Happy that we were also able to stay a few extra hours after checkout for a small fee, so that we could spend more time on the beach before our flight. As a bonus, when we checked in we found someone had left a beach umbrella there that we used on the beach (the property says they keep these things for future tenants).

La posizione vicinissima alla spiaggia, parcheggio pubblico sotto l'hotel (anche se caro, 28 euro al giorno, suggeriamo una convenzione per gli ospiti dell'hotel).
