Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Lemon Tree Lanai, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come when your expectations are sitting nice and low. This little gem completely caught me off guard in the best possible way.
The first thing that hits you isn’t actually visual – it’s the smell of plumeria drifting from their courtyard garden, mixed with that distinct scent of freshly cleaned linens (which, trust me, is rarer than it should be in mid-range hotels). The lobby’s got this relaxed, almost residential vibe that immediately made me drop my shoulders. I mean, after dealing with airport chaos, walking into a space that feels more like a well-appointed friend’s living room than a sterile hotel lobby was exactly what I needed. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day – not because they’re reading it off a computer screen, but because they genuinely seem to care about making your stay work.
What really impressed me, though, was how they’ve nailed the details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms have enough outlets in sensible places (revolutionary concept, right?), blackout curtains that actually block light, and – this is huge – a coffee setup that doesn’t make you question your life choices. I stayed in a corner room on the third floor, and honestly, the cross-breeze was so good I barely touched the AC. The bathroom’s nothing fancy, but the water pressure’s solid and there’s proper counter space for all your stuff. You know those hotels where you’re playing Tetris with your toiletries? Not here.
The pool area becomes this perfect little sanctuary around 4 PM when the afternoon light hits just right – locals seem to know this too, because I noticed a few regulars who’d grab the same lounge chairs every day. There’s something to be said for a place that attracts repeat visitors who could probably stay anywhere. Parking’s included and actually sufficient (minor miracle), and the whole property sits far enough back from the main drag that you’re not dealing with traffic noise, but close enough that you can walk to some genuinely good local spots. I discovered this hole-in-the-wall poke place literally two blocks away that I never would’ve found staying at one of those massive resort complexes.
Here’s the thing about Lemon Tree Lanai – it’s earned that 8.7 rating by doing the fundamentals really, really well rather than trying to dazzle you with flashy amenities you’ll never use. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay not because there’s so much to do on the property, but because it gives you such a solid, comfortable base that you can actually relax and enjoy wherever you are. If you’re the type of traveler who values genuine hospitality and wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual character, this place delivers.

Amazing host! Helpful and had all the knowledge about the location, which was close to the national park, black sand beach and the falls.
The place itself is wonderful, quiet, and calming.
Highly recommend!Maria from United States (9/10)
Loved the remote location, screened in lanai, and lovely sounds of the rain forest. Host was very accommodating and thoughtful in their amenities and hospitality. The only thing that caught us off guard was no door (there was a curtain) separating the only toilet and bed which is not necessarily a problem if you are staying with people you are comfortable with. Overall, it was an amazing experience and lovely place to stay. Would stay here again and recommend to friends!

Close to Volcano National Park, it was quiet, lots of info in the booklet about amenities in the area, had everything we needed – kitchen was fantastic, easy to follow instructions to find the home and super responsive host.

Beautiful location in the lush rainforest. The sounds of the frogs and things at night were glorious, like your own natural sound machine. Nicely equipped place and fresh (beautifully scented) flowers placed in the bedroom and sitting area before we arrived was a lovely touch. Lovely host too! It is a rainforest so we did get got by some mozzies, but bug spray works wonders.
Really nicely located for exploring volcanoes national Park, but also ventured off down to southernmost Point.David from United Kingdom (9/10)
Really not too far from Hilo and Volcanos National Park. You really feel close to nature, with lots of relaxing noises from the frogs at night. Host was very easy to contact.

It is like an beautiful oasis in the rainforest! On the lanai you will feel like you are IN the rainforest, while still being in a cosy living room, since it is protected with roof and screen walls. The location is rural and you need a car, but to us this was exactly the location we needed.

Location is a little remote but still close enough to the main road. Lots of beautiful flowers, pineappels, trees and lots of green. Perfect for a night and also with the little kitchen.

独立的小环境非常好,像置身于热带雨林里,晚上各种鸟叫虫鸣,起居室让人感觉非常温馨,有一个设施全面的小厨房,主人和狗狗们非常nice。
