This three-star condo sits right in Kihei, and honestly, the location does most of the heavy lifting here. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk to Keawakapu Beach – and I’m talking about one of those beaches where locals actually hang out, not just the tourist crowds.

The unit itself is pretty straightforward – think comfortable rather than fancy. The lanai faces west (hence the name), so you’ll get those sunset views everyone talks about, though you’re sharing them with quite a few other units. The kitchen’s well-equipped enough that you can actually cook instead of dropping $30 on mediocre resort food every meal. I appreciated that someone clearly thought about the practical stuff – there are beach chairs, an umbrella, even a cooler you can borrow. The AC works well, which matters more than you’d think during those humid Maui afternoons. Parking’s included too, and trust me, that’s not a given around here.

What really sells this place is how it sits in the Kihei landscape. You’re south enough to avoid the worst of the trade wind chop, but close enough to Wailea that you can wander over to the Grand Wailea or Fairmont for a fancy drink without the fancy hotel prices. The Foodland across South Kihei Road has everything you need for groceries, plus it’s where you’ll grab your poke for beach picnics. And here’s something the resort guests don’t know – if you walk south on Keawakapu toward the rocky point, you’ll find some of the best snorkeling spots that aren’t completely overrun. The building itself is older (you can tell), but it’s maintained well enough, and honestly, the slightly worn-in feel just adds to that authentic island vibe. The 8.0 rating makes sense – it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what matters. Some units can get a bit of road noise from South Kihei Road, and the Wi-Fi can be spotty, but those are minor trade-offs when you’re spending most of your time on the beach anyway. If you’re looking for marble bathrooms and turndown service, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a real slice of Maui life where you can make your morning coffee, walk to an incredible beach, and watch the sunset from your own lanai without breaking the bank – well, that’s exactly what B514 delivers.
