You know what caught me off guard about the Mauna Lani Golf Villas E23? It’s technically just a 3-star place, but honestly, it feels like you’re staying somewhere way more upscale. I mean, that 9.5 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – you actually feel it the moment you walk into this villa.

The location is pretty perfect if you’re the type who wants to be close to everything without being right in the thick of tourist chaos. You’re literally steps from some of the Big Island’s most gorgeous golf courses (hence the name), and I love that you can hear the ocean but it’s not so close that you’re dealing with crowds of beachgoers tramping past your lanai at 7 AM. The villa itself has this relaxed, lived-in vibe that makes you feel like you’re borrowing a friend’s place rather than staying in some sterile hotel room. The kitchen is actually functional – like, you can cook real meals here, not just reheat leftovers – and there’s something really satisfying about making your morning coffee while looking out at those perfectly manicured fairways with the mountains behind them.

What really sold me on this place, though, was all the little details that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The shower pressure is fantastic (trust me, this matters after a long day exploring), the AC works without sounding like a jet engine, and – this might sound weird – but the bed linens actually smell like they were dried outside, not just pumped full of artificial freshener. Parking is super easy too, which I know sounds boring but you’ll appreciate it when you’re not circling around looking for a spot after driving back from Volcano National Park. The whole complex is quiet enough that you can sleep with the windows open if you want, but close enough to Waimea that you’re not totally isolated if you need to grab groceries or want decent restaurants. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since it’s one of those places that somehow manages to feel both relaxing and convenient without trying too hard to be either.

Visitors often choose Hawaii apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Pacific paradise.
