You know what? The Polo Beach Club caught me off guard in the best way possible. I’ll be honest – when I first saw it was part of the CoralTree Residence Collection, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place, but this spot has that laid-back Maui vibe down to a science. It’s actually more like staying at someone’s really nice beach house than a traditional hotel, which I mean… that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to escape the whole resort scene.

The location is pretty sweet – you’re right on Polo Beach (hence the name, obviously), and honestly, this stretch of coastline doesn’t get nearly as crazy as some of the more famous Maui beaches. I spent most mornings just walking along the shore before the families showed up around 10 am. The water here is this incredible turquoise that changes throughout the day, and the snorkeling is actually decent if you head out toward the rocks on the south end. What really sold me though was how quiet it gets in the evenings – you can hear the waves from most of the rooms, which beats the heck out of listening to elevator dings and hallway conversations all night.

The accommodations feel more like condos than hotel rooms, which explains that 7.6 rating pretty well. Everything’s clean and functional, though don’t expect luxury finishes or anything too fancy – it’s got that slightly dated Hawaii condo aesthetic that’s somehow charming rather than disappointing. The kitchenettes are actually useful (rare for hotel kitchens), and there’s enough space to spread out your beach gear without tripping over everything. Parking was never an issue, which… if you’ve stayed anywhere popular on Maui, you know that’s worth mentioning. The staff keeps things low-key but they’re genuinely helpful – they pointed me toward this little local fish market that I never would’ve found otherwise. I’d say the sweet spot for staying here is during shoulder season when the weather’s still perfect but you’re not competing with spring break crowds for beach space. It’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities, but sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable place where you can hear the ocean and not feel like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble.

  The views and being on the island of Maui. The location next to the other resort complexes in Wailea was a desirable option. To be honest the quality and amenities of unit 508 Polo Beach where very disappointing.
