Seaside House and Aloha Bungalow Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Seaside House and Aloha Bungalow on KaEhukai Street, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this three-star property. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you. This isn’t your typical hotel setup — it’s more like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have incredible taste and knows exactly what travelers actually need. The parking situation alone had me sold from the start, because let’s be real, finding a decent spot in Pahoa can be a real headache.
Location and Local Vibe
Pahoa has this laid-back, authentic Hawaiian feel that you just don’t get in the touristy spots, and this place sits right in the sweet spot of it all. I mean, couples are rating the location an 8.4 for good reason — you’re close enough to explore the area’s black sand beaches and lava formations, but far enough from the crowds to actually relax. The street itself is quiet, which I appreciated after long days of hiking around Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. You’ll find local fruit stands and mom-and-pop shops within walking distance, plus the kind of authentic Hawaiian plate lunch spots that locals actually frequent.
The Accommodations
The setup here is pretty clever, actually. You’ve got both house and bungalow options, so whether you’re looking for a cozy room or want to spread out a bit more, there’s something that’ll work. What struck me most was how thoughtfully everything was arranged — the spaces feel lived-in rather than sterile, with local artwork and that relaxed island aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard. The bungalow option especially gives you that authentic Hawaii experience, where you can hear the trade winds rustling through the palms and actually feel like you’re part of the landscape rather than just visiting it.
Practical Perks
Here’s what I really appreciated — the little things that make a difference when you’re traveling. The free private parking means you’re not circling the block or feeding meters, which is honestly a blessing in this area. The property managers clearly understand what travelers need, because everything from the Wi-Fi to the basic amenities just works without any fuss. It’s not fancy, but it’s reliable, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a day of exploring volcanic landscapes or snorkeling at nearby Kapoho tide pools.
Why Guests Love It
That 8.8 rating isn’t just a number — it reflects what happens when a place gets the fundamentals right without overcomplicating things. Couples especially seem to connect with the intimate, authentic vibe here, probably because it feels more like discovering a hidden local gem than checking into a standard tourist accommodation. You’re staying somewhere that feels genuinely Hawaiian, in a town that still has its character intact, with hosts who understand that sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that don’t try to be everything to everyone. It’s the kind of spot where you’ll find yourself planning your next Big Island trip before you’ve even checked out.

This newly renovated house in the jungle has an expansive yard and is in a beautiful setting. Everything worked. There was good communication from hosts. The birds erupt into a cacophony at night adding to the magic of the experience. There's no TV. Kids had a blast catching lizards in the meticulously landscaped garden.

I like the nice scenery of the garden and how weather changes making it feel like sometimes in a rainforest or not, a total different experience to me and my family.

Waschmittel kostenlos. Überdachte Terrasse.
