Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, you’re immediately struck by how this three-star hotel manages to feel both classic and refreshingly unpretentious. The lobby has that old-school Hawaiian charm without trying too hard — think comfortable rattan furniture and tropical touches that actually make sense rather than feeling like a theme park. What really got my attention, though, was realizing I was literally steps away from Waikiki Beach. I mean, you can practically hear the waves from the entrance, and that’s not something you can say about most hotels in this price range.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location here is pretty much unbeatable for what you’re paying. You’re right in the heart of Waikiki on Kaiulani Avenue, which means you can stumble to the beach in your flip-flops within two minutes. The International Market Place is practically next door — perfect for grabbing everything from souvenirs to decent coffee. What I really appreciated was how walkable everything felt; you can easily hit up the Royal Hawaiian Center, catch a bus to other parts of the island, or just wander down Kalakaua Avenue people-watching. The couples I’ve talked to absolutely rave about this spot, and I get why — there’s something romantic about being able to walk to sunset dinners and moonlit beach strolls without dealing with parking or long commutes.
The Rooms
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid three-star property — clean, comfortable, and functional without any unnecessary frills. Some of the ocean-view rooms actually deliver on their promise (though you might have to crane your neck a bit), and the air conditioning works reliably, which is crucial in Hawaii’s humidity. The bathrooms are a bit on the smaller side, but everything’s well-maintained. You know what I liked? The rooms feel authentically Hawaiian rather than generic hotel-chain bland — there’s local artwork and colors that actually complement the tropical setting outside your window.
Dining & Amenities
The breakfast situation here is actually pretty solid — they’ve got both American standards and Asian options, which makes sense given Hawaii’s diverse food culture. The breakfast-to-go option is clutch if you want to grab something quick before heading out for an early morning hike or beach day. There’s private parking available, which is honestly a huge relief in Waikiki where street parking can be a nightmare. The pool area provides a nice alternative to the beach when you want something a bit quieter, though let’s be real — with the ocean so close, you’ll probably spend most of your time there instead.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani is that sweet spot it hits between location, value, and reliability. You’re getting that prime Waikiki experience without paying resort prices, and the staff genuinely seems to understand that most guests are here for Hawaii, not just the hotel. It’s the kind of place where you can base yourself for island adventures, knowing you’ll have a comfortable bed and easy beach access when you return. The fact that it consistently gets high marks for location tells you everything — sometimes the best hotel amenity is simply being exactly where you want to be.
Best hotels in Hawaii blend oceanfront resort suites, open-air lanai terraces, and tropical island breakfasts before a day along the coast.

The location is fantastic, in the hub of busy Waikiki and a walk across the road to the beach. This time I stayed in the Pool view room in the Princess Wing but prefer to stay in the Aniahau Tower with a ocean view. Room was clean and comfortable.
