You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to this place – I mean, the name alone sounds like something you’d find on a vacation rental site with questionable photos. But honestly, this little tropical hideaway completely surprised me in the best way possible.

The first thing that hits you is actually the smell – that perfect mix of frangipani and ocean breeze that you can’t fake with those hotel lobby candles. The cabana itself is tucked back from the main road (thank god, because traffic noise would totally kill the vibe), and when you walk around to the deck… well, let’s just say the photos don’t do it justice. The hot tub is positioned perfectly to catch the sunset, and I spent way too many evenings just soaking there with a beer, watching the sky turn ridiculous shades of orange and pink. The lush scenery they mention? It’s not just marketing speak – we’re talking actual jungle vibes with these massive palm fronds that create this natural privacy screen. You’ll hear more birds than cars, which is rare these days.

What really sold me on this place was all the little details that show someone actually cares. The outdoor shower (which I was skeptical about) turned out to be amazing – there’s something weirdly liberating about washing off the day under the stars. The deck furniture is actually comfortable, not those cheap plastic chairs that leave marks on your legs, and there’s enough space to really spread out. I loved that the hot tub stays at the perfect temperature without you having to mess with controls every five minutes. The kitchen setup is pretty basic but functional – perfect for making morning coffee or storing leftovers from that incredible fish place down the coast (seriously, ask the owner for directions, it’s this tiny local spot that doesn’t even have a sign). Check-in was refreshingly simple too – none of that corporate hotel rigmarole, just genuine hospitality from people who know the area inside and out. Fair warning though: if you’re looking for room service and daily housekeeping, this isn’t your spot. But if you want that authentic tropical escape where you can actually hear yourself think, where the hot tub becomes your evening ritual and the deck becomes your office (the WiFi is surprisingly solid), then this place gets it right. That 8.6 rating? Totally earned.

  This property is hands down one of the best I have stayed at on the Big Island. It’s a true gem that offers a peaceful, comfortable and clean space that feels like home. The outdoor areas are beautiful with natural landscaping, tall, established trees and cheerful sounds of birds. The covered deck offers a hot tub, table and chairs, and a hammock for lounging. Built by a shipbuilder, the house it itself has unique character and efficient design. I truly appreciate the care and thoughtfulness that went into building the home as well as how responsive and helpful Thom is. As the manager of the property, Thom has thought of possibly every detail to make one’s stay there comfortable and convenient. From beach towels to aluminum foil and plastic wrap, we had everything we needed there which saved us from having to drive about 15 minutes to a nearby store to buy things.

  The property was absolutely gorgeous it certainly didn’t disappoint! We were pleasantly surprised to find the hot tube worked since most of the reviews said it was out of order. The property is located on an old fruit nursery and some of the fruit trees still remain so we had access to fresh fruit the entire stay from oranges to starfruit they were all excellent! This is truly a unique property and I would recommend it if your looking for a more private getaway.

  The surroundings are amazing, very peaceful and secluded. The building is definitely unique, shaped liked a boat. There is so much space in the yard. Our host Thom was exceptional, he took care of our every need.

  It was further away from Hilo than I realized which made for a lot of driving. The relatively secluded and quiet neighbourhood was very nice. The hot tub was a nice addition. The kitchen, BBQ, and laundry were very well appreciated. We made smoothies with fresh fruit, partly from the yard.

  Wunderschönes, sehr stylisches und individuelles Cottage in guter Lage und inmitten eines herrlichen tropischen Gartens. Freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Betreuer (telefonisch). Komplett ausgestattet incl. grossrr Küche und – Whirlpool auf der schönen Rundum-Terrasse…. Ideal zum relaxen und entspannen, auch mit Kindern,…. wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt…. , sehr empfehlenswert….
