Waikiki Ilikai Marina Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Waikiki Ilikai Marina, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical Waikiki high-rise — it’s got more of a residential feel than a traditional hotel. The three-star property sits right on Ala Moana Boulevard, and honestly, the location is what really makes this place shine. You’re technically in Waikiki, but you’re positioned at the quieter end where it meets the Ala Moana area, which means you get the best of both worlds without the constant tourist chaos.
Location & Neighborhood
This spot is absolutely perfect if you know Honolulu at all — you’re literally steps from the Ala Wai Harbor and about a five-minute walk to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. What I love is that you can easily walk to the main Waikiki strip when you want the action, but retreat back to this calmer section when you need a break. The Ala Moana Beach Park is right across the street, and let me tell you, locals actually use this beach (unlike some of the more touristy stretches). Plus, having on-site parking in this area is honestly a game-changer — you know how impossible parking can be in Waikiki.
The Accommodations
The units here feel more like vacation rentals than hotel rooms, which works really well for longer stays or if you’re traveling with family. Most have kitchenettes or full kitchens, so you can actually save some money by not eating out for every single meal. The furnishings are comfortable rather than fancy — think clean and functional with that slightly dated Hawaii condo vibe that’s actually pretty charming. Many of the rooms have decent views, and if you’re lucky enough to get one facing the marina, the sunsets are genuinely spectacular.
What Makes It Special
You know what really sets this place apart? It’s the fact that you feel like you’re living in Honolulu rather than just visiting a resort. The marina location means you’re watching boats come and go instead of just staring at other hotel towers. There’s something really peaceful about being near the water but not directly on the beach — you get the ocean proximity without the crowds. The property attracts a lot of couples (apparently they rate the location super highly), and I can see why — it’s romantic without being overly touristy or expensive.
Why Guests Love It
People keep coming back to the Waikiki Ilikai Marina because it strikes this perfect balance between convenience and tranquility. You’re close enough to walk to everything — the beach, shopping, restaurants — but far enough from the main drag that you can actually get some peace and quiet. The fact that it’s more apartment-style than hotel-style means you have space to spread out and really settle in. And honestly, for a three-star property in this location, the value is pretty hard to beat, especially when you factor in that parking situation.

For this room, if you need a place where you are looking to save a few bucks by making your own food, and staying close to the malls and all, this is a great place. Kitchen was pretty well appointed, and it was rather easy to walk to a lot of food places nearby.
