Waikiki Place Studios at The Marine Surf Waikiki Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Waikiki Place Studios at The Marine Surf Waikiki, you immediately get that authentic Honolulu vibe — it’s not trying to be something it isn’t. This three-star property sits right on Seaside Avenue, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby has a relaxed, unpretentious feel that sets the tone for your stay. You know what really caught my attention? The fact that they actually have free private parking on site, which is basically gold in Waikiki where most places charge you an arm and a leg just to park your rental car.
Location & Neighborhood
The location score of 9.1 isn’t just marketing fluff — this place really is positioned perfectly. You’re in the heart of Waikiki but on a side street that’s not completely overrun with tour buses every morning. Couples especially seem to love it here (they rate the location 8.6), and I can see why. You can walk to the beach in literally two minutes, but you’re also close enough to grab late-night snacks or hit up the ABC Store when you inevitably forget sunscreen. The Royal Hawaiian Center and International Market Place are both an easy stroll away, which means you’ve got shopping and dining options without having to venture too far from your home base.
The Studios
These aren’t your typical hotel rooms — they’re actual studios, which means you get a bit more space to spread out. Each unit comes with a kitchenette, and I mean a real one with a proper refrigerator and stovetop, not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation. The furnishings are simple but functional, and the beds are comfortable enough after long days of beach hopping and hiking Diamond Head. The bathrooms are clean and well-maintained, though don’t expect anything fancy — this is practical accommodation done right. What I really appreciated was having enough counter space to actually unpack and organize my stuff, something you don’t always get in Waikiki properties.
Practical Perks
Beyond that parking situation (which seriously cannot be overstated in this area), there are some thoughtful touches that make a difference. The kitchenette setup means you can grab groceries from the nearby Foodland and save money on breakfast or late-night munchies. The building itself is well-maintained, and the staff is helpful without being overly chatty — they’ll give you solid recommendations if you ask but won’t hover. Air conditioning works well, which you’ll definitely need during those humid Honolulu afternoons. The Wi-Fi is reliable too, important if you need to upload all those sunset photos or catch up on work emails.
Why Guests Love It
This place hits that sweet spot between location and value that’s getting harder to find in Waikiki. You’re not paying resort prices, but you’re still in the thick of things with easy beach access and walkable dining options. The studio setup gives you flexibility — you can eat in when you want to save money or just need a quiet night, but you’re also steps away from some of the best restaurants and bars in Honolulu. It’s particularly great for couples who want to experience Waikiki without the crowds and chaos of the bigger resort properties, but still have all the conveniences of being centrally located.
Visitors often choose Hawaii apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Pacific paradise.

I liked the location of it. Seaside up to Kalakaua Ave is only a 1 min walk, and right there you have everything you need in walking distance. It was nice to have a studio with working appliances (fridge, AC, microwave, kitchen sink)

Location is great. Condo had beach chairs, a cooler, umbrella, beach towels and sand toys. When we had issues with the tub draining, the host was quick to respond and came over the same day to resolve the issue! Yay!
