Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Wavecrest when I first pulled up – I mean, it’s a 3-star place and honestly, those can be pretty hit or miss. But this little gem completely surprised me, and I get why it’s sitting at a 9.1 rating.
The first thing that struck me was how the staff actually seemed to care about what they were doing. Check-in was smooth (no weird upselling tactics), and the front desk guy – I think his name was Marcus – gave me this genuine rundown of the area that felt more like chatting with a local than getting the standard tourist spiel. The lobby’s got this relaxed vibe going on, nothing fancy but clean and welcoming with these comfortable chairs where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling like you’re taking up premium real estate. My room was on the third floor, and while the elevator’s a bit slow, the hallways were quiet – you know how some hotels have that echoey, institutional feel? Not here.
What really won me over was the attention to small stuff that makes a difference when you’re traveling. The room had enough outlets (thank god), decent water pressure in the shower, and – this might sound weird – but the curtains actually blocked out light properly, which is surprisingly rare. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I wrestled with it all night, and there’s a little seating area by the window that’s perfect for coffee in the morning. I also appreciated that housekeeping didn’t go overboard with chemical cleaning products – the room smelled fresh but not like a sanitizer factory. Parking was straightforward too, which saved me the headache of circling blocks looking for street spots.
Here’s the thing though – Wavecrest isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works. You’re not paying for marble everything or a concierge in a fancy uniform, but you get a genuinely comfortable stay with people who seem to understand that travelers just want things to work properly. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout the building, the ice machine on my floor actually worked (minor miracle), and when I had a question about late checkout, they were flexible without making it feel like I was asking for a huge favor. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day without any hassles, and leave thinking you got your money’s worth – which, honestly, feels pretty rare these days.

The pool area was great – it sheltered the wind perfectly so we could enjoy the windy days in the sun.
Quiet spot (minus the roosters).
The condo itself had a ton of space and great views.Robert from Germany (9/10)

The gardens outside my balcony were absolutely beautiful. The setting of the property on the beach provided beautiful views of the ocean with palm trees swaying in the breeze and the islands of Maui and Lanai in the distance. Birds singing and roosters crowing everyday. I absolutely loved it and I would love to return!

Fabulous view. You can see Maui & Lana’i right out your balcony. We drove the whole Island and prefer this side as there are more lodgings, restaurants, grocery stores and it’s greener, and right on the water. It is so quiet at night. The kitchen was well equipped. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and it was nice to have a barbecue area. The condo was clean and had everything we needed for a lovely stay.
