Hale Kamaole Overview

First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Hale Kamaole, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t scream “resort” from the outside. This three-star property sits quietly along South Kihei Road, and you might actually drive past it if you’re not paying attention. But that’s sort of the point, I think. It’s got this understated, residential vibe that feels more like staying at a friend’s place in Wailea than checking into a typical tourist hotel.

The Condo Setup

Here’s what I loved — each unit is basically a full apartment with a proper kitchen, which honestly saved me a fortune on meals. The room I stayed in had this sliding door that opened right onto a lanai, and you know what? Waking up to that view of the Pacific never got old. The furnishings are a bit dated (we’re talking early 2000s vibes), but everything works and it’s clean. Plus, having a full-size fridge meant I could stock up on fresh poke from the local markets instead of paying resort prices for mediocre food.

Location Magic

The location is where this place really shines — and I mean really shines. You’re literally across the street from Kamaole Beach Park III, which locals just call “Kam 3.” I’d grab my coffee in the morning and be on the sand in under two minutes. The beach has actual facilities (restrooms, showers, picnic tables) and the snorkeling on the south end is surprisingly good. What’s more, you’re close enough to walk to shops and restaurants in Kihei, but far enough south that you avoid the worst of the tourist chaos.

The Practical Stuff

Free parking might not sound exciting, but trust me — in this part of Maui, it’s a big deal. The property has two pools, and while they’re nothing fancy, they do the job when you want to rinse off the salt without trekking back to your unit. The grounds are well-maintained with tropical landscaping that actually feels authentic rather than overly manicured. I noticed the staff keeps things running smoothly without being intrusive, which I appreciated.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Hale Kamaole isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or a flashy lobby. What it does is give you a genuine slice of Maui life at a reasonable price point. Couples seem to get this — the property has this relaxed, intimate feel that works perfectly for a romantic getaway without the resort crowds. You’re paying for location and space, not marble bathrooms or a concierge. And honestly? After spending days exploring the island, coming back to a quiet spot where I could cook dinner on the lanai while watching the sunset was exactly what I needed. It’s the kind of place that grows on you, especially if you value authenticity over Instagram-worthy amenities.

Location was convenient and nice. I wish we could’ve checked in earlier in the day to enjoy the space. Easy combination entry and the A/C was on when we arrived. Very clean and well stocked with towels, pillows and linens.

You get your moneys worth. The comfort and luxury kitchen bathrooms washer and dryer all up to date very modern and tech savy . The owners really went above and beyond this is your “dream home away from home”. Both couches were pullout beds which I thought was very convenient. The deck/lanai looks right out to the pool which is like 100ft away. The microfiber pool towels provided were an excellent touch as the dried quick in the sun and in the dryer . It’s the little details for me that made this stay immaculate !!
