Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Kona Bayview Inn, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots are exactly where you want to end up, and this little gem proved that point perfectly.
The thing about staying here is that you’re getting this authentic Kona vibe without the touristy madness that hits some of the bigger resorts down the coast. I mean, you can actually hear the ocean from most rooms (well, when the trade winds are cooperating), and there’s something really satisfying about falling asleep to actual waves instead of traffic noise. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but honestly, who spends vacation time staring at hotel decor anyway? What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. The walls aren’t paper-thin like some places I’ve stayed, and the staff actually seems to care about keeping things peaceful after 10 PM.
Here’s what really sold me on this place though – the location puts you right in the sweet spot for exploring the Big Island without being stuck in resort bubble-land. You’re close enough to walk to some decent local coffee shops in the morning (and trust me, you want that Kona coffee fresh), plus you can easily drive to the good snorkeling spots without fighting resort crowds. The parking situation is actually pretty stress-free too, which anyone who’s driven around Kona during peak season will appreciate. I loved that I could grab my gear and be at Kahalu’u Beach Park in maybe ten minutes, or head up to the coffee farms when I wanted a change of scenery. The front desk folks know their stuff about what’s worth doing and what’s tourist trap nonsense – they steered me toward this amazing little poke place that I never would’ve found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees or pushy upgrade pitches, just straightforward hospitality. That 9.6 rating makes total sense when you stay here because it’s one of those places that just gets the basics really, really right.
Early hotels booking in Hawaii is essential during major events like the Ironman World Championship, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the islands’ renowned surfing culture and tropical beauty.

We really enjoyed our time here. The accommodation is away from any tourist hotspots, it feels like you’re in the middle of nature and the view is fantastic. Due to the quiet location, you are always dependent on a car, but that didn’t bother us, as you are travelling a lot on Big Island anyway to explore the island and are therefore dependent on a car anyway. You can them get to a supermarket and various food spots in just a few minutes. Thomas and Sharon (as well as their furry flatmates) gave us a very warm welcome. Over the course of the days, they kept giving us great tips on where to go and what to see. They even lent us the equipment for snorkelling. There are also camping chairs in the room that you can take with you, which is very useful on Big Island as sandy beaches, for example, are rather rare. Breakfast was delicious every morning and very varied. The room was well equipped and very clean.
We can highly recommend the Kona Bayview Inn, it is one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in.Michael from United States (10/10)
Overall, 11 out of 10. The steep driveway could be a little tricky for some people; just go slow and watch the markers and it’s no problem at all. Not everything is perfect, but way better than staying in a hotel, I don’t care how fancy the hotel. No fumbling with a dumb in-room coffee maker, you’ll step out onto the lanai at 6:00 and have coffee ready, and just wait until you see the view and the breakfast. Aloha!

Sharon and Thomas were extremely welcoming and wonderful hosts. They were happy to give suggestions on things to do and see and graciously lent us snorkeling gear for the day. The daily breakfasts featured the freshest produce and fruits and were the highlight of our stay here.

I had the most peaceful and beautiful stay at this hotel. The sunsets were absolutely gorgeous, and the view was breathtaking. What made it even better were the friendly cat and dog who added to the charm of the place.
The breakfast options were delightful, with a variety of choices over the three days I stayed. It was a great way to start each day of my trip.
The hotel offered a range of amenities that made my stay even more enjoyable, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Wifi and the public area are great!
The rooms were not only spotlessly clean but also thoughtfully furnished with Hawaiian elements, creating a truly immersive experience. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful getaway.Pamela from United States (10/10)
