You’re about twenty minutes from some incredible beaches, but you’re also right in the heart of where locals actually live and work. I found myself walking to this great little coffee shop just down the street most mornings, and there’s a farmers market on Saturdays that’s way more authentic than the touristy ones you’ll find elsewhere.

What Makes It Work

The thing about this place is that it delivers on the basics really well. The Wi-Fi actually works (which isn’t always a given), the air conditioning keeps things comfortable, and I never had any issues with noise from other units or the street. It’s clearly set up for couples — the space feels intimate rather than cramped, and there’s something nice about having your own little retreat to come back to after long days exploring the island. The hosts have thought through the details too, like providing beach towels and basic toiletries.

  The room was recently remodeled. The kitchenette includes everything necessary except for a real range. You can see a big green mountain from the window. It's centrally located (e.g. the road to Hana is as easy to get to as southern beaches) and so is perfect for first-time visitors who are not biased towards a specific destination.
