Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Wailea Ekahi 52B – it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be flashy, but honestly? That’s exactly what makes it work. When I first pulled up, I wasn’t blown away by some grand entrance or anything like that. It’s more understated, tucked into the Wailea Ekahi complex where you can actually hear the ocean if you listen past the rustle of palm trees. The whole vibe is refreshingly low-key for this part of Maui, which – let’s be real – can get pretty over-the-top with the luxury resort thing.
What really got me was how lived-in it felt, you know? Not in a worn-down way, but like an actual home where someone cared about the details. The lanai catches these incredible cross-breezes in the evening (honestly, I barely used the AC after figuring that out), and you can see slivers of ocean through the tropical landscaping. I mean, it’s not a direct oceanfront view or anything, but there’s something nice about catching glimpses of blue between the plumeria trees. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you hit up Foodland in Kihei – which, pro tip, is way cheaper than buying snacks at the resort shops down the road. Parking was never an issue, even during the busy season when some of the bigger resorts nearby were turning people away.
The thing about this part of Wailea is that you’re close enough to walk to some seriously good beaches (Wailea Beach is maybe a 10-minute stroll), but far enough from the main hotel strip that it doesn’t feel like you’re living in someone’s lobby. I actually loved the early morning walks down to the shore before the day-trippers arrived – there’s this moment around sunrise when you might have the whole beach to yourself, just you and maybe a few dedicated joggers. The unit itself keeps things simple but comfortable, though I will say the shower pressure could be better (minor complaint, but hey, honesty matters). What surprised me most was how quiet it stayed at night, considering you’re not exactly in the middle of nowhere. The trade winds do their thing, the building’s solid, and somehow you end up sleeping better than you do at home. For a three-star place with decent ratings, Wailea Ekahi 52B delivers exactly what it promises – a genuine Maui experience without the resort circus, where you can actually relax and remember why you came to the islands in the first place.

Location was perfect for me, next to the Andaz, where I had family staying. The Andaz was a quick 5 minute walk away from this condo.

-Access to the Ekahi grounds and seaside pool and pavilion.
-very beautiful landscaping and flowers on the Ekahi grounds.
-This is a very shady, dark ground level condo on the north side of the building, so it tends to be cooler than some of the units that get direct sun. It depends what you like, but I prefer it cool.
-Seems quite safe.
-Good location for access to the South Shore beaches.Mohr from United States (2/10)
